MC Shows Finally hosted my last scheduled show on 15th of Sept, though I have a feeling there's more to come =) Kelly S was great as usual, an awesome performer in fact. We were only asked to MC the Hong Kong Club Ball, but I ended up asking Kelly to sing, but before you know it, she was all prepared with a CD full of her singing tracks, so it was only a matter of getting her a mic! Well done Kel! Elsa asked me to join her club...haha, I said yes...mite as well, since I'm sorta Hongkie. Preparing with Kelly
Elsa was the one who asked us to host! Hong Kong Club
Newspaper September has truly been a month of media exposure! Was interviewed by a Chinese Newspaper (no, not the free ones you can pick up!) about my career in radio. Had to dig up all of my good pics so they can publish it with my article. In case you were wondering what I said, it's basically along the lines of how I got into broadcasting and where it has taken me so far. They gave me a soft copy of it:
3CW Radio My current Cantonese show needs a long overdue facelift...so now in the process of recording new sound bytes and writing new material. Hopefully we can launch it at the start of October. Jason has been a great help with the recording and new music. Hopefully, all of that will pull together along with interviews and guests lined up for the show. Also going to set up a new email and website for the facelift as well, along with a new name!! Stay tuned! SBS Radio Been getting involved with Jennifer Ho from SBS Alchemy with her Asian Pop Show, only this time it's all in English which is a change! Going to start a series of Cantonese Music Segments in the coming weeks. I have recorded the first episode already, going on air this Thursday nite from 11pm onwards on FM 93.1 so tune in! Also had the chance to interview a new hip-hop artist called Lo.J, though he looks kinda hardcore on his album, he was actually quite friendly to talk to. Check out his website. Apart from that, did a couple of translated voice over for interviews with another new band, A-DAY (URL) Check out the podcasts here: http://www20.sbs.com.au/podcasting/media/audio/alchemy_2007-09-13_5489.mp3 (A-DAY's Recipe) http://www21.sbs.com.au/alchemy/index.php?pg=ct&ct=1&sc=&id=477 (A-DAY's Interview) Television Asian Television on Channel 31 asked me to be the anchor for their community news segment. It was sorta a last minute thing, so I had to squeeze it in between recording, rehearsals and writing! It's a half hour segment every second Sunday from 7pm to 7.30pm on Channel 31. My first show will be on this weekend, Sept 30th. They are desperately trying to win some ads for that time slot, so I'm in the process of pitching new ideas to fill up that time slot with more interesting stuff rather then ppl eating at dinners and balls! Was thinking of a variety show...but more on that later. Man was I in for a surprise!!! Basically there were 3 segments I had to prepare: 1: Media Press Conference, exclusively for Chinese Media. 2: Mid-Autumn Festival at Box Hill 3. Buddhist Grand Master Bai Yun visiting Melbourne in OCT. Had to translate all of that from Chinese to English, then write up my own script in English, memorise it (cos they don't have a teleprompter yet!!!) and shoot my 'desk' scenes in front of a blue screen! Basically I had to look at the camera the whole time, and deliver all the lines I wrote earlier! So don't be too surprised that it's crappy when you watch it on Sunday cos it was rushed within 3 hrs (including finding out what I was doing, and translating!) But I'm pretty sure that it's going to be much better every time! Theatre Last but not least, the Chinese Opera finally wrapped up yesterday! I was in 2 sets, so played different characters for each of them. Everybody was quite professional and it was a sold out crowd at Collingwood Town Hhall! Had rehearsals every Sunday evening, and even more as we got closer to the day. Got there nice and early on Sunday for makeup and costume! The costumes were gorgeous but took ages to put on! Very hot too in the costume and there was a point I was wearing 2 pair of pants! Overall, it was a great performance, and the audience gave a loud round of applause at the end. You know they were interested the whole time when they're silent and didn't get distracted. It was a charity show with part proceeds going to ake a Wish Foundation? We ended up given them a cheque of $8000! Well done! Rehearsals Texting while they sang!
